As part of our extensive package of works at Telehouse, Careys were initially contracted to carry out enabling works on the Telehouse West data centre, after which we were awarded a further packages for the data centres sub-structure and external works.
Our initial scope of works on this part of the project included:
• Site clearance
• Protection works
• Reduced level excavation
• Piling mat works
As a testament to our excellent delivery of this initial contract, we earned a further package, which involved the provision of substructure works and concrete topping. Our successful completion of these responsibilities led to us winning a significant external works package, as part of which we provided:
• Ground-beams
• Services
• Ground-floor slab
• Paving
In order to carry out our substructures package as effectively as possible, on a site with an extremely tight footprint, we needed to carefully plan and closely coordinate the installation of the drainage, attenuation tanks and an extensive ductwork network.
We also handled the removal and off-site treatment of hydrocarbon and heavy metal impacted soils, which were associated with the historic infilling of the area’s docks. We also safely uncovered and removed asbestos containing materials.
Additionally, as part of our concrete topping package, we were tasked with the placing of concrete throughout the eight levels of metal-decked floor. For our external works package, we installed large interceptors and diesel tanks. In order to do this, we put in place a series of temporary works that had been designed by our own in-house Design Team.
