Through establishing clear communication channels, remaining on-schedule, and respectfully and professionally meeting our responsibilities, we have forged good relations with key supply chain members and contacts on the project, including SSE, Vital Energi, Envac and London Borough of Barking Dagenham.

Collaboration with environmental and ecology consultants ensure local environment is undisturbed during works

We’ve promoted sustainability on this project by engaging environmental and ecology consultants to ensure that none of our works would disturb the environment. This is an especially important factor on this River Thames site, which shelters numerous ecosystems harbouring protected wildlife.

Additionally, on this project, we have managed the installation of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems, gas, water, envac, district heating networks, and BT and VM telecoms through the extremely thorough planning processes and procedures that Careys is well known for. This helps us to ensure that every aspect of our work at Barking Riverside is completed safely, efficiently and to consistently high standards.

Creating a vibrant new east London residential hub on the Thames

The Barking Riverside project is a substantial part of the ambitious Thames Gateway regeneration initiative, which aims to alleviate the chronic shortage of housing in the Greater London region by constructing new residential space across a 60km span, encompassing Kent, Essex and east London. As a vital element in this development scheme, Barking Riverside represents a signature project for London and benefits from the direct involvement of the Mayor of London’s office.

Once all of the construction works have been completed, Barking Riverside will be a brand new London community on the banks of the River Thames. This self-contained area will provide homes for over 30,000 residents, seven new schools and its own bus and river interchanges, as well as a dedicated Transport for London Overground station, serviced by the Gospel Oaks line.

With 10,400 new homes and 65,000m2 of commercial space, the Barking Riverside development will become a vibrant new residential space within easy commuting distance of the thriving financial, business and commercial districts of central London.
