Careys Foundation assist and provide opportunities for all Carey Group employees to apply their skills outside of the workplace. Through our volunteering scheme every employee is entitled to one paid day of leave a year to volunteer and support a charity of their choice.
Whether it’s giving our time to a local charity or helping out a community project that could benefit from our passion and expertise, we will have a positive impact in our communities through volunteering. This was embodied by the Careys team in the Midlands who over a three day period donated their time to support local charity, Action4Youth.
Action4Youth is a Buckinghamshire based ambitious, proactive charity focused on driving forward the crucial youth agenda to transform lives for the better, where every child should have the opportunity to be heard, to be safe and to succeed. Their aim is to build partnerships across sectors so that they can share resources and expertise to secure the best possible outcomes for young people and their communities in Buckinghamshire, the wider east and South East.
Action4Youth is fully wheelchair accessible, however some of the critical pathways to the accommodation area and showers were worse for wear, with uneven surfaces and gravel pathways, making access difficult for those in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties.
Over a the three-day period the Careys team were able to remove the old edgings, widen the path and replace the edging before levelling the path off and Tarmacking the surface, to ensure it is accessible to everyone and thus improving the experience of the individuals visiting Action4Youth.
This would not have been possible without the support of our sub-contractors for contributing to the cause, as it wouldn’t have been possible without them, so a huge thanks to Smith Recycling and Breedon Group Plc.
Rich Wyatt, Head of CentreI have been utterly blown away by Careys on so many levels. Firstly, I was so impressed with how friendly all the staff have been. It's been so easy working with you all. Secondly, the product you have built looks and is so impressive. It has transformed what we offer to the young people who will access the yurts. Wheelchairs will be able to access easily and safely without the risk of tumbling out. I know our CEO Jenifer, will be very impressed with the quality of work and how it looks.
You all worked so hard for 3 days, and to arrange all the materials and equipment has been brilliant to see. I loved the way you brought other companies in to help with the project. I know this was not a cheap project. I totally acknowledge how Careys have funded this adventure with Action4Youth.
Thank you so much to your foundation, you have made a massive difference to The Caldecotte Xperience. I really cant put my thanks in words. Please pass on my thanks to everyone who played a part.
