Careys Foundation has partnered with Seneca Resource Recovery to surprise Sam, one of the faces of Evelina London Children’s Hospital, with his photo printed on one of our tipper wagons.
Evelina London Children’s Hospital
Evelina London Children’s Hospital is one the Foundation’s chosen charities this year. It is the second largest provider of children’s services in London, offering a range of specialist services from antenatal diagnosis through to childhood, into adolescence and on into adult life.
Raising awareness for this fantastic cause
Sam is one of 150 patients who are sharing their stories to celebrate the hospital’s 150th anniversary this year.
Nine-year-old Sam has achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, and is being treated at the achondroplasia clinic at Evelina London, where for the past three years he has also been taking part in a clinical trial.
Sam recently arranged a triathlon to fundraise for the hospital as a thank you for the treatment and care they have provided him over the years.
We wanted to raise awareness for this fantastic cause and the life changing work the hospital do, as well as surprise Sam, so thought what better way than proudly displaying their logo and Sam’s photo on one of our trucks, which will be seen as the site visits various Careys sites across London.
Last week the tipper visited Sam at his house where it was unveiled, and he was presented the personalised number plate as a gift from Seneca’s Kevin Sibley, Ralu Saman and Kamil Majewski.
Sam was so excited. He’s been telling all his friends at school, but nobody believed him; now he’s got the photos to prove it! The number plate is a nice touch which we’re going to put up in his bedroom. Thanks to everyone at Careys for making this happen, Sam loved it.

It was great to be involved. Sam is a lovely boy, it was fantastic to meet him and see his reaction to a 32 tonne truck pulling up outside his house!
