I operate a pretty fluid type of leadership style adapting to individuals needs, strengths and weaknesses. My main emphasis is on developing the individuals within the team to help them further their careers which in turn provides maturity to the region. Helping their career development happens in tandem with ensuring they successfully deliver in their role by mentoring them. The key to our successful delivery is all based around the foundation of the Carey way and then building on that to deliver projects on time.

I joined Careys in October 2014 as Head of Delivery, having spent the previous 14 years at Dunne Building and Civil Engineering, ending my time there as a senior project manager.
During my seven years as Head of Delivery I had the ultimate responsibility for the projects I supervised, whilst also overseeing the management of resources, programme and costs to ensure the effective delivery of projects and maintaining client relationships. I was fortunate to be part of several high performing teams who delivered a range of high-profile groundworks, sub-structure and super-structure projects.
These included the concrete frame for the Manchester Goods Yard, the commercial office and residential space which forms part of the larger St John’s Quarter development; basement and superstructure works on an Energy from Waste (EfW) plant in Ferrybridge, on which we deployed the largest slip form system that we had used to date to construct the waste bunker, measuring 64m x 30m x 25m; the delivery of multiple packages at the UK’s first mining project for 30 years at Woodsmith Mine in Yorkshire and I was involved with the V&A Museum in Dundee again in both sub and superstructure. The superstructure was 3D double covered high spec architectural concrete with very complex temporary works to facilitate the build.
